3. Target Crops and Application Scenarios
Zinc-Deficient Soils: Soils that are sandy, calcareous (high pH), low in organic matter, or have high phosphorus levels are prone to zinc deficiency.
Highly Sensitive Crops: Rice, corn, soybeans, citrus, grapes, and pecans are particularly susceptible to zinc deficiency and show strong yield responses to zinc fertilization.
Application Timing: Best applied at planting (as a basal dose) or during the early growth stages to prevent deficiency. Foliar sprays can be used for quick correction when symptoms appear.
4. Application Guidelines (General)
Soil Application:
Broadcast: Apply 5-15 kg per hectare and incorporate into the soil before planting.
Band Application: Apply 2-5 kg per hectare in bands near the seed for greater efficiency.
Foliar Spray:
Dilution: Dissolve 1-2 kg of Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate in 1000 liters of water.
Spray: Apply evenly on leaves, 2-3 times during the growing season, especially during the early stages of growth.
Seed Treatment: A low concentration solution can be used to coat seeds before sowing, ensuring early availability of zinc to the seedling.
Precautions: Avoid mixing with concentrated alkaline solutions (e.g., some pesticides) as it may cause precipitation. Do not over-apply, as excessive zinc can be toxic to plants and may interfere with the uptake of other nutrients like phosphorus and copper.

6.Zinc Deficiency Symptoms

Stunted Growth: Plants are shorter than normal with shortened internodes.
Leaf Symptoms: Interveinal chlorosis (yellowing between the veins) on younger leaves; small, narrow leaves ("little leaf" syndrome).
Rosetting: Leaves clustered at the ends of stems due to shortened internodes.
Reduced Yield: Poor fruit set, smaller fruits, and significantly lower grain yields.


Note: Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate is the most widely used zinc fertilizer due to its high effectiveness, solubility, and cost-efficiency. For soils with extremely high pH (alkaline soils), chelated zinc may be more effective, but Zinc Sulphate remains the standard choice for most agricultural applications. It is a fundamental tool for ensuring optimal crop nutrition and maximizing yields in zinc-deficient soils.
